The team was founded in 1919 by Earl "Curly" Lambeau, an employee of the Indian Packing Company, a meat packing plant.
Lambeau secured a sponsorship from the company to cover the team’s expenses, filled a roster with employees, and Indian Packing provided funding for uniforms and equipment, and in return, the team was named after the company. The Packers quickly became a successful franchise, winning multiple championships in the early years, eventually joining the NFL and winning many more there. Eventually, the company’s sponsorship ended, but the Packers’ legacy endured, becoming one of the most storied franchises in NFL history.
